About Me

While I love teaching and research, I think it's important to have a great work/life balance and do all kinds of things to have a well-rounded life. My parents call me the Energizer bunny because I work all week and adventure all weekend.

I enjoy camping, road biking, mountain biking, climbing, and running. In 2019, I ran a 4-hour marathon! I also play piano, and in September 2021 was able to play with a band at a local music venue and live out my rock star dream.

I am from the Appalachian mountains of Virginia, and while I love my home, I feel very lucky that I have been able to live in other places and expand my horizons.
